Invisalign tips and tricks

If you have started your Invisalign journey or looking to get Invisalign for your teeth, you may want to consider a few tips and tricks that can help you along the way.

Who is Invisalign for?

In recent times, Invisalign has been much talked about and is trending as a popular orthodontic treatment. Let’s face it. Whether you are a teenager or an elderly person, we all want to look fashionable no matter what our age. As much as we would like our smile spruced up and our teeth aligned, we must be aware that Invisalign is not for all. The decision on whether you can choose Invisalign can be suggested only by your orthodontist. The reason being, for most of us, our teeth look fine and our smile is perfectly normal with a few aberrations that can be corrected with braces. In such a scenario, it is definitely not worth investing in Invisalign. As a rule of thumb, if you are 90% satisfied in terms of how your smile looks, you need not go for the Invisalign aligners. We recommend Invisalign for those with crooked teeth, bad bite and a misaligned jaw. Invisalign braces and one needs to get a few things straight first before signing up for the straightening itself. Listed below are a few tips and hacks on how to take care of your teeth and your aligners.

  1. Make sure you keep your aligners in a case as it is very easy to forget wearing it on after a meal. You can keep all your Invisalign accessories in a pouch while travelling, for instance along with the aligners you will need to keep a mouthwash, floss, toothbrush and paste for cleaning.
  2. Cleaning your Invisalign braces is essential especially if you drink coloured beverages. You can use a toothbrush and brush it off gently on the insides and on the outer surface before putting them on.
  3. You must use a straw when you drink beverages like tea or coffee as they are coloured and may stain the aligners. Not something you will be pleased about.
  4. File the edges of the aligners. As the edges of the braces are rough it can initially cause mild irritation. You can avoid this by filing the edges with a nail filer. You will experience a significant difference if you file before using.
